How to Cook Steak on a Pizza Stone?

Ingredients:


• One piece of flank steak (about 650 grams) at room temperature
• Kosher salt
• Dried oregano (1 teaspoon)
• Cumin seeds (1 teaspoon)
• Vegetable oil (2 tablespoons)
• Whole black peppercorns (1/2 teaspoon)
• Unsalted butter (2 tablespoons)
• To serve – herb tomato quarters and green pesto with spring onions and basil


Directions to follow:


1- Place the rack inside the oven by keeping it one step above from the base. Now, place your grill stone for steak on it. Preheat the oven for 25 minutes at 250 degree Celsius.
2- While your stone is preheating, season the steak lightly with a pinch of kosher salt. Make sure both sides of the steak are salted and leave it for 10 minutes.
3- Prepare the butter sauce while the steak is marinating. Take a mortar and crush the peppercorns and cumin seeds. Also, add dried oregano and ½ teaspoon kosher salt to this. Now take a pan and melt unsalted butter. Add spice mixture just before the butter is completely melted and gently toss/stir to cook the spices. Remove the pan from heat to add oil in it. Mix again and let it cool. Set aside one tablespoon oil-butter mixture to pour over the steak once cooked.
4- Gently pat dry the marinated steak and spread the her-bed butter-oil mixture on two sides of steak. Now place the steak on the stone inside the oven and let it cook for 5 minutes. After that, change the side of steak and cook the other side for the same 5-minute duration. Make sure to open your windows when cooking the steak so that your kitchen may not get smoky. Once both sides are cooked, remove the steak from the grill stone for steak. Now spread the leftover oil-butter mix and let it rest for 5-6 minutes.
5- Your steak is ready to be served. Cut the steak into thin strips and serve with herb tomato quarters and green pesto.
